Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. - The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team, ranked sixth in the nation, defeated the 12th-ranked University of Chicago 1-0 at Stagg Field today.
Alli Kishaba (Jr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) scored the Blugolds' game-winning goal in the 57th minute of competition. The win gives the Blugolds a 6-0-1 overall record for the season. The team is now on a six-game win streak.
Kishaba's lone goal for the Blugolds was crucial to their win and not without excitement. The junior midfielder was able to steal the ball from a Chicago player and keep the ball in motion until she found her shot. She then fired from 18 yards out, the ball deflecting off the Chicago post before bouncing to the ground and in the goal.
The Blugolds were able to double Chicago's shots overall (18-9) and Allie Rivard (Sr.-Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) was able to contribute a save as she played the full 90 minutes in goal.
Up next, the Blugolds will head to Wheaton, Ill. to take on the two-time defending national champion Wheaton College. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday.
