Box Score EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire soccer team got off to a good start in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, picking up a 4-1 victory over UW-River Falls today at Ramer Field.
The Blugolds, who are ranked 10th in the nation, improve to 4-0-1 on the season and 1-0-0 in the WIAC. River Falls drops to 0-5-0 and 0-1-0 in the conference.
The Blugolds went up 2-0 in the first half and controlled the ball in River Falls' zone much of the time. Just before the end of the half, River Falls put one in the net to make the score 2-1 at the half.
Eleven minutes into the second half, Eau Claire got up 3-1 after a ball deflected off a River Falls' defender. With 17 minutes to go, the Blugolds scored their final goal of the game.
Sunday the Blugolds will take the field for a game against Nebraska Wesleyan. Action gets underway at 2 p.m. at the Bollinger Fields.
