BRASELTON, Ga. - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team stayed in 23rd place out of 35 teams with 328 strokes (967 overall) on day three of the 2008 NCAA Division III Championships at Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, Georgia today.
St. John Fisher College (N.Y.) remained at the top of the field, shooting 893 strokes over the three-day period. The University of Redlands (Calif.) moved up one spot to second place and is only four strokes out of first. Methodist University (N.C.) had the best round of the day, 291, and moved up two spots into third place with 900 strokes overall. St. John's University (Minn.) dropped two spots to fourth place with a three-day total of 901.
St. John Fisher's Scott Harris, Jr., stayed at the top of the individual leader board, shooting an even 71. He is three under par for the tournament with 210 total strokes. Illinois Wesleyan's Chris Green is in second with 217.
Pete Wendt (Sr.-Lake Mills, Wis.) led the Blugolds on the third day of the championships with 80 strokes, while Derek Bauer (Sr.-Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Eagan) had 81. Both are tied for 60th place overall with 234 strokes total. Mason Milner (Sr.-Onalaska, Wis.) totaled 82 today for 246 overall and is currently in 110th place. Aaron Nelson (So.-River Falls, Wis.) had his best round of the championship today, totaling 85 strokes for 269 overall and is in 120th place. In 117th place with 255 strokes, after shooting 87 today, is Ben Ziemann (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial).
The Blugolds will finish up with the final day of competition in the 2008 Championships at Chateau Elan Resort on Friday.
