Men's Golf Takes Fourth At Spring Opener

COLFAX, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team took fourth place out of eight teams at UW-Stout's Border Battle at Whitetail Golf Course here today.

The University of St. Thomas (Minn.) took the top spot with a score of 287. Stout was second with 291, while Augsburg finished in third with 299 strokes. The Blugolds' "A" team finished one stroke behind, at 300, to take fourth, and Eau Claire's "B" team finished in fifth with 306 strokes.

Ben Ziemann (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) had the highest finish for the Blugolds today, tying St. Thomas' Andrew Madsen for third with a score of 71 on the par-72 course.

Peter Wendt (Sr.-Lake Mills, Wis.) and Mason Milner (Sr.-Onalaska, Wis.) finished two strokes above par, tying four others for eighth place. Eau Claire's Ryan Grip (Fr.-Wausau, Wis./East) tied for 18th with 76 strokes, while Scott Meyer (Jr.-New Richmond, Wis.) finished with 77, tied for 22nd. Five other Blugolds finished in 27th place or lower.

The Blugolds will next head to St. Peter, Minnesota for the Bobby Krig Invitational hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College. The invite is set to take place next Monday and Tuesday.
