Box Score EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - With a 4-0 victory over the UW-Oshkosh Titans today in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference quarterfinal game at the Bollinger Fields, the UW-Eau Claire soccer team moves on to the WIAC Semifinals, which will be played next weekend.
Eau Claire, which is now 16-1-3 on the season, will face UW-Whitewater at 2 p.m. on Friday in a semifinal matchup. La Crosse will take on Stevens Point at 11 a.m. Friday. Saturday the championship will match the two remaining teams and will start at 1 p.m. All games will take place in Stevens Point.
Rachel Nerison (Fr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) scored the Blugolds' eventual game-winner at 6:54 to give Eau Claire the 1-0 lead. Amy Smith (Sr.-Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson) assisted on the goal.
Smith then struck for Eau Claire two times, recording her 19th and 20th goals of the season. She scored once in the first half at 16:07 and had the Blugolds' third goal in the 84th minute of play. Jamie Schiesel (So.-Plymouth, Minn./Armstrong) and Allison Muer (Sr.-Minneapolis, Minn./South) were credited with assists on the two goals, respectively.
In the 88th minute, Sam Krueger (Jr.-Elkhorn, Wis.) scored her second goal of the season to put the Blugolds up by four.
Overall, the Blugolds outshot the Titans 16-2 and put 10 shots on-goal. Eau Claire also edged Oshkosh 5-1 in corner kicks. Smith led the game with five shots, four of which were on-goal.
Allie Rivard (Sr.-Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) played the entire game in-goal and picked up two saves. Oshkosh's Laura Neve recorded six saves and allowed four goals as she also played the entire 90 minutes.
The loss ended Oshkosh's season with a record of 7-8-2.
