LA CROSSE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team improved five shots over day one to finish with 607 strokes overall, tying for first place with Viterbo University at Ronnie Eastman Invitational, hosted by Viterbo.
To determine a champion, the Blugolds and the V-Hawks competed in a two-hole playoff. Eau Claire came out ahead in the playoff to be named tournament champion. Iowa Wesleyan, which led after the first round, took second place with 610, while St. Ambrose University finished with 611 for fourth place.
On the individual side, Adam Lindsay of Iowa Wesleyan College and Dusty Drenth of St. Ambrose University tied for first place. Lindsay then defeated Drenth in a two-hole playoff to earn medalist honors. Both ended the two-round tournament with 146 strokes (+2).
K.R. Rucker (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) led the charge for Eau Claire, shooting a 150 and finishing tied for fourth overall. Jake Brookshaw (Fr.-River Falls, Wis.) came in next for Eau Claire, tying for 8th place with 151. Ryan Grip (So.-Wausau, Wis./East) shot a 154 overall and finished in 14th place, while Loren Churness (So.-Durand, Wis.) tied for 20th with 156 strokes. Adam Eggebrecht (Jr.-Abbotsford, Wis./Colby) ended up tied for 34th with 161.
The Blugolds will be back in action next spring.
