Men's Golf In Second At Ronnie Eastman Invite

LA CROSSE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team currently sits in second place out of 15 teams after the first round of the Ronnie Eastman Invitational, hosted by Viterbo University.

Iowa Wesleyan College leads the field with 301 strokes, while the Blugolds shot 306 today. Viterbo is currently in third with 309 and St. Ambrose University has 311 strokes, in fourth place.

Jeff Zieber, golfing as an individual for Iowa Wesleyan, shot an even score of 72 to lead the pack of 72 golfers.

K.R. Rucker (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) led the Blugolds in the first round with 74 strokes, tied for third place overall. Loren Churness (So.-Durand, Wis.) is tied for ninth after shooting 76. Ryan Grip (So.-Wausau, Wis./East) and Jake Brookshaw (Fr.-River Falls, Wis.)finished the day with 78 strokes, tied for 15th place. Adam Eggebrecht (Jr.-Abbotsford, Wis./Colby) ended the first round tied for 44th with 85.

The Blugolds will complete their 2008 fall schedule tomorrow in the final round of the Ronnie Eastman Invite. Golfing will get underway at 9 a.m. Monday with a shotgun start.
