COLFAX, Wis. -- The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team placed third out of 16 teams at the Blugold Open Cross Country Meet today at Whitetail Golf Course.

The University of Minnesota took first place, with Minnesota-Duluth coming in second. St. Olaf College (Minn.) finished fourth, and Winona State (Minn.) placed fifth.

The Blugolds, who are ranked second in Division III, had five of their seven runners finish in the top 20. Alyssa Sybilrud (Fr.-Savage, Minn./Burnsville) paced Eau Claire, finishing in 11th place with a time of 23:15. Molly Woodford (So.-Waukesha, Wis./South) was right behind Sybilrud with a 12th place finish in 23:22. Taking 14th place was Jenna Smith (Jr.-Robbinsdale, Minn./Cooper) with a time of 23:34. Beth Lutz (Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Ellie Lutz (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) were on each others' heels, finishing in 19th in 20th place, respectively. Beth finished in 23:47, while Ellie finished in 23:49.

Eau Claire has next weekend off before traveling to West Salem, Wis. for the UW-La Crosse Drews/Neubauer Invite on October 18.
