Women's Cross Country Takes Third At Lake Wissota

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The fourth-ranked UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team completed the regular season today with a third place finish out of five teams at its Lake Wissota Meet this afternoon.

The University of St. Thomas took first place at Lake Wissota with its top four runners sweeping the first four places and its fifth runner taking sixth. The Tommies scored 16, while La Cross came in second with 41. The Blugolds ended the meet with 76. UW-Stout finished fourth with 107 points and UW-River Falls came in fifth with 155.

Kacey Rindy (Fr.-Fennimore, Wis.) led Eau Claire, finishing in 10th place with a time of 19:14 on the 5K course. Senior Meghan Bell (West Bend, Wis./West) finished right on Rindy's heels to take 11th. Freshmen Charissa Drake (Orfordville, Wis./Parkview) and Britta Nelson (Rosemount, Minn.) took 16th and 17th, respectively, with times of 19:34 and 19:39. Rounding out the top five Blugold runners was Teresa Coughlin (Fr.-Coon Rapids, Minn.) who took 22nd with a time of 20:07.

Next Saturday the Blugolds head to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship in Stevens Point. The championship will begin at noon.
