RAMSEY, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team completed day two of the Gustavus Adolphus Twin Cities Classic in third place at The Links at Northfork today.
Host Gustavus Adolphus leads the 17-team field, with a two day total of 579. They shot second best today, with 290 strokes, while fourth-place Nebraska Wesleyan had the best round today, shooting 288. St. John's is currently in second after totaling 585 strokes, and the Blugolds are eight shots behind them with 593, shooting a 296 the first day and 297 the second. Central College sits 19 shots behind the Blugolds and is in fifth place, while Augsburg College is in sixth with 615 strokes.
Derek Bauer (Sr.-Inver Grove Heights, MN/Eagan) fell four places today and is currently tied for seventh with Eric Harris of Gustavus. Bauer shot a 74 today while Harris shot a 73, and both have a +2 146 total. Sophomore teammate Ben Ziemann (Eau Claire/Memorial) is in a tie for 11th place with 149, while seniors Peter Wendt (Lake Mills, WI) and Mason Milner (Onalaska) have a two day total of 151 and are tied for 15th. Sophomore Aaron Nelson (River Falls) is one stroke back with 152 strokes, to put him in a tie with four others for 20th.
The 17-team field will finish the three day classic, which the Blugolds won the last two years, Monday. They are set to tee off at 10:30 a.m. at Minnesota Valley Country Club in Bloomington.
