EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team took 9th out of 17 schools today with 274 points. The Blugold Open took place at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wis.
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse took first with 57 pints and three top ten runners. St. Thomas came in second with 77 points and Wartburg College ran for 88. Carleton (118) and Bethel (150 round out the top five teams.
St. Thomas runner Katie Theisen finished 1st out of 243 runners with a time of 23:31.
The top Blugold finish belonged to Jenna Smith (So. - Robbinsdale, MN/Cooper), who was 46th with a time of 25:18. Claudia Borlee (Jr. - Green Bay, WI/Preble) finished 50th with a time of 25:23. Kelly Palmer (So. - Chanhassen, MN/Chaska) ran a 26:07 finishing 75th and following her was Amanda Denamur (Fr. - Tomahawk, WI) who ran a 26:39, finishing 99th.
Coming in at 106th was Julie Meis (Jr. - Platteville, WI) who ran a 26:51. Lauren Novak (So. - New Berlin, WI/West) and Becky Lake (Fr. - Edgar, WI) were the last point-gainers for the Blugolds. Novak finished 116th while Lake finished 118th with times of 27:08 and 27:11.
Next up for the Blugold women is the University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invite in St. Paul. The event is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 29th.
