Men's Golf Finishes One stroke Back

SAUK CENTRE, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team finished with a 618 today to take second behind the host team's 617 at the St. John's Fall Invitational at Greystone Golf Course.

Behind St. Johns University (MN) and Eau Claire, Gustavus Adolphus College (MN) had 619 for a close third. St. John's Blue was fourth at 624 while St. Cloud State University (MN) was fifth with 633. There were 20 teams competing.

Two Blugolds were in the top four, with Peter Wendt (Sr.-Lake Mills) and Mason Milner (Sr.-Onalaska) putting on strong performances. Wendt took third with a 150 score, which is six over par. Milner carded a 151 and placed fourth.

Derek Bauer (Sr.-Inver Grove Heights, MN/Eagan) is the next Eau Claire golfer. He tied for 18th after totaling 157. Ben Ziemann (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) accounted for the rest of the Blugold points, notching a 160-stroke performance that tied him for 31st.

St. Cloud's Theo Frentzos led the pack with a 148. There were 103 golfers behind him.

The Blugolds will stay in Eau Claire for their next event. They host the Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Collegiate on Sunday and Monday.
