CANNON FALLS, MN - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team concluded the two-day invite hosted by St. Olaf College (MN) and Carleton College (MN) with a top-place finish at 617 strokes.
This is the second time the team has placed first in the spring season, with the other being the Border Battle. St. John's (MN) and Gustavus Adolphus College (MN) took up the next four slots. St. John's No. 1 team had 620 strokes for second while its second squad tied for third on a 638 tally. Gustavus Adolphus also tied for third and then took fifth with its No. 2 team on a 656 score. Eau Claire's second group took sixth with 659 strokes.
St. John's is ranked fifth while Eau Claire is 14th and Gustavus Adolphus is 22nd.
Tyler Leis (Sr.-Reedsburg) placed third overall. Rob Norris (Sr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) was tied on top of the leaderboard after the first day on Saturday. There were 54 participants at the 7,003-yard Summit Gold Club.
The Blugolds were selected to compete in the NCAA Division III National Championships, which will occur May 15-18 at Fishers and Carmel, IN.
