Men's Golf Ties For Ninth At Bvu Invite

STORM LAKE, IA - With a 606 total, the UW-Eau Claire men's golf team tied for ninth with Simpson College (IA) at the Buena Vista University (IA) Spring Invitational, played at Lake Creek Country Club.

The first day's play was suspended by darkness and so teams were forced to finish both rounds today. Eau Claire shot a 307 in the first round to tie for 11th. The Blugolds improved to a 299 in round two, which tied for sixth best on the round. This was Eau Claire's first meet of the spring season.

Nebraska Wesleyan University (NE) won with 575 strokes. Central College (IA) was next with a 582 score. Central's JV team grabbed third with 587. Augsburg College (MN) finished fourth at 594 and Northwestern College (IA) placed fifth on a 597 tally. The invite had 24 teams in it.

Nebraska Wesleyan's Tyler Lawson had a five-under 139 that was tops on this par-72 course that measured 6,706 yards. A total of 128 golfers participated.

Tyler Leis (Sr.-Reedsburg) shot a 146 to tie for ninth. Mike Greer (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) had a 152 mark and tied for 35th. Mason Milner (Jr.-Onalaska) tied for 50th on a 154. Ben Ziemann (Fr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) golfed a 155 for a 59th-place tie.

The team will hit the links once again with the Bobby Krig Invite on Monday and Tuesday at St. Peter, MN.
