Men's Golf In Second After Day One Of Ronnie Eastman Invite

LA CROSSE, Wisc. - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team is in second place after today's first round of the Ronnie Eastman Invitational, hosted by Viterbo University and held at La Crosse Country Club.

The Blugolds are following first place St. Ambrose, who shot a 287 as a team. St. Ambrose's Adam White and Viterbo's Ren Jungck are tied for first individually after day one. Both White and Jungck shot a 70, which is 2 under par.

Following the Blugolds is Viterbo University, who shot a 295. UW-Stout is in fourth with a 300, and Grand View College is in fifth with a 301.

The Blugolds shot a 294 as a team. Aaron Nelson (So.-River Falls, WI) led the Blugolds with a 71. Nelson is tied for third individually with St. Ambrose's Drew Chuipak and Viterbo's Derrick Meier. Senior Derek Bauer (Inner Grove Heights, MN/Eagan) came in second for the Blugolds. Bauer shot a 72 and is tied for sixth individually. Pete Wendt (Sr.-Lake Mills, WI) finished the day with a 75, which was third for the Blugolds and tied for 11th individually. Sophomore Ben Ziemann (Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) finished the day with a 76. Ziemann finished fourth for the Blugolds and tied for 16th overall. Mason Milner (Sr.-Onalaska, WI) finished fifth for the Blugolds and tied for 39th individually. Milner shot an 82 for the day.

The Blugolds have a gunshot start tomorrow for day two of the Ronnie Eastman Invitational. It starts at 10:00am.
