Women's Cross Country Takes Third At Home Meet

COLFAX - The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team placed third out of 16 schools at the Blugold Open on the grounds of Whitetail Golf Course.

The Blugolds scored 103 points on the home meet. UW-La Crosse won the meet for the second year in a row, this time with a 40 score. St. Thomas tallied 82 for the runner-up spot in front of Eau Claire. University of Minnesota took fourth at 110 and UW-River Falls placed fifth with 166 points.

Molly Warner (Jr.-Mosinee) took third overall out of 222 runners. She clocked in at 22:59 while the winner, Kristen Painter from La Crosse, defended her first place run from last year with a 22:25 time.

Christina Locke (Sr.-Racine/Horlick) also finished in the top 10, taking 10th on 23:30. Cassie Haak (Sr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) ran 23:51 for 15th. In 34th, Ellie Lutz (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) timed in at 24:24. Bridget Bocher (Jr.-Watertown) had a time of 24:40 and placed 41st.

The Blugolds are off until October 14th when they head to the UW-La Crosse Invite.
