Box Score EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire soccer team chalked up another shutout after today's 3-0 victory over rival UW-Stout.
This marks the 12th straight home win for the team, which has not lost at Bollinger Fields since a 3-0 game to UW-Stevens Point on October 16th of 2004. It also is the sixth shutout of the season and it moves the Blugolds to 7-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). The team has allowed only one goal, a penalty kick, in 649 minutes and 18 seconds of play this season. The most shutouts ever for Eau Claire was 14 last year. The game, meanwhile, drops the Blue Devils to 1-5-0 and 0-2-0.
The Blugolds, who upped their opponents in shots on goal by a 5-3 margin, got the scoring going in the 41st minute. Freshman Emily Waldorf (Hartford/Kettle Moraine Lutheran) took a feed from Katie Hanna (Fr.-Appleton/West) and scored her first Blugold goal.
The second half turned out to be the Emily Meisinger (Sr.-Green Bay/Notre Dame Academy) show. Meisinger put in her second and third goals of the season at the marks of 54:48 and 88:16, respectively. Maria Iaizzo (Sr.-White Bear Lake, MN) took the team lead in assists with three after the first score but Amy Smith (So.-Bloomington, MN/Jefferson) kept pace with a pass on the second Meisinger netter.
More soccer action will occur this weekend at Bollinger Fields when the Blugolds play UW-Whitewater on Saturday and Hamline University on Sunday. A 2:00 p.m. start time is listed for both.
