WAVERLY, IA - The fifth-ranked UW-Eau Claire men's golf team finished up its first spring tournament of the season today as it finished sixth out of 18 teams at the Wartburg Invitational.
The Blugolds shot a second round 299 at Waverly Municipal Golf and Country Club to end up with a two-day total of 620. Millikin University won the event with a low score of 607. Central College finished second with a score of 610. Three teams tied for third with a score of 611: Wartburg College, Mount Mercy (Blue), and Buena Vista University.
Each team shot a lower score on the second day of the event than on the first day.
The Blugolds' Grant Lissick (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) and Ryan Brockhaus (Jr.-Mayville, WI) tied for the top team score and tied for 10th place overall after they both finished with a two day total of 153. Lissick shot a second round 73, while Brockhaus shot a second round 72.
Peter Wendt (So.-Lake Mills, WI) shot a second round 78 to finish with a total of 155, which put him in a tie for 20th.
Next, the Blugolds will compete in the Buena Vista Invite next Friday and Saturday. Tee time is set for 10 a.m. Friday morning and 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
