LESUEUR, MN - The sixth-ranked UW-Eau Claire men's golf team sits in third place after posting a first day score of 608 at the Bobby Krig Invitational held at LeSueur Country Club today.
The teams shot 36 holes today and the Blugolds are 17 shots back of leader St. John's University, who shot a first day score of 591. In second place, is host Gustavus Adolphus with a score of 593. Following the Blugolds in fourth is Augsburg College with a score of 612 and in fifth is the University of St. Thomas with a score of 621.
Leading the way for the Blugolds is Tyler Leis (Jr.-Reedsburg, WI), who shot a 36-hole score of 148 and is currently tied for fifth place overall. Grant Lissick (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) is another Blugold in the top 10 as he is in a tie for ninth place after he shot a score of 150.
Two Blugolds are tied for 19th place overall, Ryan Brockhaus (Jr.-Mayville, WI) and Derek Pirkl (Sr.-Stoughton, WI) after they both posted a score of 153.
Alex Kroeger (Fr.-Onalaska, WI) is the next highest Blugold as he is tied for 27th place with a score of 155. One stroke behind Kroeger in a tie for 30th is Brian Giese (Jr.-Prairie du Chien, WI) with a score of 156.
Mike Greer (Jr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake), along with Peter Wendt (So.-Lake Mills, WI) are in a tie for 41st with a score of 158 and Mason Milner (So.-Onalaska, WI) is tied for 50th with a score of 159.
Final round action will move to the Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan tomorrow. Tomorrow's action will only be 18 holes.
