STORM LAKE, IA - The sixth-ranked UW-Eau Claire men's golf team finished fourth out of 20 teams today with a score of 622 after the final round of the Buena Vista Spring Invitational.
The final round moved to Lake Creek Country Club and every team shot a higher score today than yesterday. The Blugolds shot a final round 325, compared to a 297 first round.
The Blugolds had six members finish in the top 27 of the tournament. Grant Lissick (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) was the top Blugold finisher as he placed tied for seventh overall with a two-day total of 153. Brian Giese (Jr.-Prairie du Chien, WI) was next with a total score of 156, which put him in a tie for 16th.
Tyler Leis (Jr.-Reedsburg, WI) finished tied for 20th with a score of 157 and Cody Peterson (Fr.-Chippewa Falls, WI/Chi-Hi) finished tied for 22nd with a score of 158.
Two Blugolds tied for 27th place, Ryan Brockhaus (Jr.-Mayville, WI) and Mike Greer (Jr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake), both finished with a score of 159.
Nebraska Wesleyan was the winner of the event with a two-day total of 610. In second was Gustavus Adolphus with a score of 617 and in third was Central College with a score of 618. Following the Blugolds in fifth place was Wartburg College with a score of 626.
The Blugolds will have a quick turnaround, as they will compete in the Gustavus Spring Classic Monday and Tuesday. First round action will take place at LeSeuer Country Club.
