Women's Cross Country Places Fourth At NCAA Regional

DAVENPORT, IA - The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team finished fourth out of 38 teams at the NCAA Midwest Regional hosted by Augustana (IL) College here today at Credit Island Park.

Washington (MO) and North Central (IL) earned automatic births to the NCAA Championships held on November 18 by placing first and second with scores of 56 and 92 points, respectively. The Blugolds scored 129 points to finish in fourth place.

The Blugolds are eligible for an at-large birth with their fourth place finish. The completed field of finalist for the NCAA Championships will be announced tomorrow.

Molly Warner (Jr.-Mosinee) led all Blugolds finishers placing 10th with a time of 21:55.7. Beth Lutz (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) finished 20th in 22:20.5. Cassie Haak (Sr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) followed close behind Beth Lutz finishing 23rd with a time of 22:25.9. Christina Locke (Sr.-Racine/Horlick) placed 32nd in 22:36.0 and Ellie Lutz (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) rounded out the Blugold scoring on the day finishing 44th with a time of 22:57.2.

If the Blugolds are awarded with an at-large birth they will compete at the NCAA Championships on November 18 in Mason, Ohio.
