Men's Golf storms Into Lead At Twin Cities Classic

RAMSEY, MN - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team shaved 11 strokes off their opening round score to catapult from fifth to first place at the Twin Cities Classic hosted by Gustavus Adolphus (MN) here today at Links of Northfork.

The Blugolds where the only team to score under a 290 on the day and one of just three teams to finish under 300 on the day. With a two-day total of 587 the Blugolds lead St. John's (MN) total of 594 followed by Central (IA) and Gustavus Gold at 596 with Nebraska Wesleyan rounding out the top five at 602.

Three Blugolds currently reside in the top nine lead by Rob Norris (Sr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham-Hall) who is in fourth place with a 145. Mike Greer (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) is tied for fifth with a 146 while Mason Milner (Jr.-Onalaska) is tied for ninth place with a score of 147.

Derek Bauer (Jr.-Inver Grove Heights, MN/Eagan) is tied for 16th with a two-day total of 149. Tyler Leis (Sr.-Reedburg) rounds out the Blugold top five tied for 22nd place at 151.

The Blugolds will conclude play tomorrow at the Twin Cities Classic. They will play at the Hazeltine National in Chaska.
