ELMHURST, IL - The UW-Eau Claire soccer team bounced back from their first loss of the season on Friday to defeat Elmhurst College today 3-1 in Elmhurst.

Elmhurst got on the board early when Shay Batcheller put one in at the 14 minute mark. The Blugolds got a little luck for their first goal when Elmhurst put it in their own goal at 31:24 to tie the match up.

It stayed that way until midway through the second half when the Blugolds' Liz Kooistra (Fr.-Lakeville, MN) received a pass from Maria Iaizzo (Jr.-White Bear Lake, MN) and scored her third goal of the season, putting the Blugolds up for good.

Amy Smith (Fr.-Bloomington, MN/Jefferson) then sealed the deal scoring with five minutes left to give the Blugolds the 3-1 victory. Allison Muer (Fr.-Minneapolis, MN/South) assisted on the goal.

The Blugolds dominated for the most part out shooting Elmhurst 24-6. Elmhurst's goalie was busy all day as she had to save 15 Blugold shots. Allie Rivard (Fr.-Wayzata, MN) had three saves for the Blugolds.

With the win the Blugolds improve to a record of 6-1-1 and Elmhurst falls to 1-9 on the season.

Up next the Blugolds will travel to play Luther College on Wednesday with the action scheduled to begin at 7 P.M.
