LINCOLN, NE - Eau Claire started up their season today by tying for eighth out of 14 after the first day of competition.

The Blugolds shot 307 on the course and are currently tied with the Nebraska Wesleyan Junior Varsity squad. They trail the hometown leaders of Nebraska Wesleyan University's score of 292 by 15 strokes and are 2 strokes back of seventh place LaGrange College.

UW-Eau Claire has several players in the top fifty. Ryan Brockhaus (Jr.-Mayville) is currently tied for ninth overall with a 74 on this 71-par course. He is three behind the overall leader. Derek Pirkl (Sr.-Stoughton) and Cody Peterson (Fr.-Chippewa Falls/Chi-Hi) are both tied for 32nd with their scores of 77.

Eau Claire finishes up the tournament tomorrow.
