Box Score EAU CLAIRE - The undefeated Eau Claire soccer team claimed another victory today as they beat UW-Platteville 2-0.
The Blugolds kept the Platteville goalie busy in this physical matchup. There were 29 shots on goal through the game for Eau Claire. There were no goals to show for the effort in the first half despite some opportunities. In the second half Eau Claire broke through and got the ball in the net for their pair of goals and the win.
The defense dominated the Pioneers as they held them to two shots on goal for the entire game. The Eau Claire goalie tandem of Allie Rivard (Fr.-Wayzata, MN) and Liz Weirick (So.-Kenosha/Tremper) handled only two saves compared to 21 for the Platteville counterpart. Both were unassisted. Foltz and Maria Iaizzo (Sr.-White Bear Lake, MN) led the team with 5 shots on goal apiece, while Muer and Jill Cope (Sr.-Golden Valley, MN/Hopkins) both had four.
UW-Eau Claire now stands at 3-0-1 on the year and 1-0 against conference opponents. The Pioneers record is now 3-2-2 and 0-2 in the conference.
