Men's Hockey Blanked By Stout

MENOMONIE - The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team lost 5-0 to NCHA opponent UW-Stout tonight in its first NCHA game.

The Blue Devils got on the board early. With only 26 seconds gone by, Stout made a power-play goal to capture a 1-0 lead.

At 5:59 in the second, Stout scored an evenhanded goal to up by two.

The third period saw several Stout goals. Another even-sided goal was scored 35 seconds into the final period. At 2:11, the Blue Devils again scored with an even-handed goal. The final strike came 13:51 into the period on an advantage.

Steffan Braunlich (Sr.-Los Angeles, CA/Loyola) was kept busy with 34 shots on goal. Five made it past him. Meanwhile, Eau Claire put up 23 shots on goal.

The Blugolds went 0 for 6 in power-plays while the opponents went 2 for 10.

The team now stands at 0-1 in the NCHA and 0-4-2 in all games. Stout is 1-0 and 4-3 in the respective categories.

The Blugolds next travel to face UW-River Falls, another NCHA opponent. The game starts at 7:05 tomorrow.
