Box Score FRIDLEY, MN - The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team lost 2-4 tonight to Bethel University at the Columbia Arena. The team is now 0-3-2.
Eau Claire scored first on an Evan Byers (Fr.-Eagan, MN) shot at 2:26. Chip Dunleavy (Sr.-Littleton, CO/Columbine) provided the assist on the even-sided score. At 11:39 into the first Bethel scored an evenhanded goal of its own to tie it up.
The second period saw Bethel take the lead. A power-play goal 4:57 into the period gave the Royals a 2-1 lead.
Brooks Lockwood (Jr.-Hudson) leveled the score again with an evenhanded goal 2:10 into the third. There were no assists. However, Bethel scored two unanswered goals to take the victory. The first was a power-play score 6:38 into the final period and the last was an empty net goal 19:53 into the third.
Eau Claire had 28 shots on goal, but Bethel had 46. The Blugolds went 0 for 3 in advantages while the Royals went 2 for 7.
Goalie Steffan Braunlich (Sr.-Los Angeles, CA/Loyola) made 42 saves and allowed three goals. The fourth was on an empty net. His counterpart made 26 saves while allowing two goals.
Up next for the team a matchup against UW-Stout next Friday in Menomonie. It begins at 7:00 p.m.
