Late Goal Gives Soccer Third Straight Win

Box Score

EAU CLAIRE - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire soccer team pulled out a thrilling victory today in defeating a tough Loras College squad by a score 1-0 to give the Blugolds their third straight win.

The match went back and forth for the most part. Loras seemed to have much of the control in the match with the ball being in Blugold territory for the most part.

With the time winding down in regulation, however, the Blugolds sprung an attack and for the second consecutive match Emily Meisinger (Jr.-Green Bay/Notre Dame Academy) broke the scoreless tie in the 87th minute when she received a beautiful pass from Marcia Foltz (Sr.-Madison/Memorial) and put the ball in the back of the net.

The Blugolds then played tough defense the final three minutes to hang on for a 1-0 victory. It was the fourth straight shutout for the Blugolds and the ninth of the season.

It was the Blugolds third straight 1-0 victory, all of which coming against quality opponents.

The Blugolds are now 9-1-2 overall and remain 4-0 in the conference. The loss drops Loras College to 9-2 overall.

Up next the Blugolds will travel to Whitewater Friday (Oct. 14) to go up against the Warhawks. The action is set to get underway at 3 p.m.
