Soccer Handles Whitewater, Wins Fourth Straight

WHITEWATER - The UW-Eau Claire soccer team had its highest scoring output of the season today as it defeated UW-Whitewater by a score of 4-1 to give the Blugolds their fourth straight win.

The Blugolds came into the matchup today not allowing a goal in the past four matches, but Whitewater ended that by scoring in the 33rd minute to give the Warhawks an early 1-0 lead.

It was all Blugolds from their, however, as they scored the final four goals of the match. The Blugolds tied the match up with 10 seconds remaining in the first half when Allison Muer (Fr.-Minneapolis, MN/South) put one past the goalkeeper. Emily Meisinger (Jr.-Green Bay/Notre Dame Academy) assisted on the goal.

Meisinger also assisted on the Blugolds second goal when Marcia Foltz (Sr.-Madison/Memorial) scored at 77:00 to give the Blugolds a 2-1 lead. Foltz then scored two minutes later to give the Blugolds a 3-1 lead. Foltz now has five goals this season to lead the Blugolds. Foltz then assisted on the final goal of the game when Muer kicked in her second goal at 84:40 to give the Blugolds a 4-1 victory.

It was the most goals the Blugolds have scored since scoring six against UW-Superior last season.

The Blugolds have now out scored their opponents this season by a margin of 20-5 and have out shot their opponents 208-72.

With the win the Blugolds improve to 10-1-2 overall and are 5-0 in the WIAC. The loss drops the Warhawks to 6-7 overall and a conference record of 1-5.

Up next the Blugolds will travel to Stevens Point to face the Pointers tomorrow with the action starting at 2 p.m.
