Classic Finish For Men's Golf

BLOOMINGTON, MN - During the three day Gustavus Twin Cities Classic the Eau Claire men's golf team has stormed from fifth to second to first out of 17 teams to take the top spot.

The team as a whole shot 892 over three days and 54 holes. The second place teams of St. John's University and Gustavus Adolphus shot 907. Nebraska Wesleyan and Central College then tied for fourth with 912 totals.

Mike Greer (Jr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) put together a fantastic performance to finish second overall out of 106 golfers with a 220 total. He did tie with Cole Reiman of Central College and his 220 score, but Reiman won the playoff. Derek Bauer (So.-Eagan, MN/Indian Hills CC, IA) was not far behind him, however, as his 221 score netted a third place finish. A 223 stroke performance tied Grant Lissick (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) for fifth. A 230 score gave Peter Wendt (So.-Lake Mills) a tie for 23rd, while Ryan Brockhaus (Jr.-Mayville) rounded out the squad with a 233 and a tie for 32nd.

The Blugolds have now won two events in a row, with the previous one being the home Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Collegiate. The team is an incredible 40-4-1.

Eau Claire next tees off on Sunday at the two-day Gordin Collegiate Classic. The Blugolds head south for this one as it takes place in Myrtle Beach, SC.
