Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team grabbed an early 1-0 lead but allowed four unanswered goals in a 4-1 loss to St. Thomas here today in Minnesota.
The Blugolds fall to 1-2 on the season and drop their second straight contest while the Tommies move to 2-0 overall.
Eau Claire got on the board first when Marcia Foltz (Jr.-Madison/Memorial) found the back of the net in the 14th minute to give the Blugolds a 1-0 advantage. The Tommies were able to tie the game on a gift goal, making the game 1-1 on an Eau Claire own goal.
St. Thomas took the lead for good in the 44th minute when Sarah Balgord took a pass from Jess Ricter and fired it on goal for the game-winner. The Tommies added two more goals in the second half while holding the Blugold offense in check as Eau Claire fell 4-1.
The Blugolds managed nine shots in the match while St. Thomas fired 12 shots on goal.
Eau Claire will look to end its two-game skid this Saturday when they host Macalester College. The action begins at 2:00 p.m. at the Bollinger Fields in Eau Claire.
