EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire soccer team shut out Luther College 3-0 here today at the Bollinger Fields.

The Blugolds jumped out to the early lead on a Kelly Peterson (Jr.-Hudson) goal. Peterson took a pass from Becky Sitter (Fr.-Waupaca) and put Eau Claire up 1-0 11:22 into the game for the only first half goal.

Peterson struck again early in the second half scoring an unassisted goal off a bobble from Luther goalie Lilly Steinberg for her third goal of the season. Marcia Foltz (Jr.-Madison/Memorial) concluded the scoring capitalizing on another goalie bobble for her fourth goal of the year.

Annie Scharenbroich (White Bear Lake, MN/South) played 79:46 minutes in goal stopping all four shots that came her way. Val Wolf (Fr.-Plainview, MN) finished an eventful last 10 minutes making three stops in goal.

Eau Claire won despite being outshot 10-8, allowing more corner kicks, and committing three more fouls.

The Blugolds will be in action next when they host UW-Oshkosh Friday at the Bollinger Fields. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
