Warner Leads Women's Cross Country To Victory

ARCADIA - Molly Warner (Fr. -Mosinee) took first place individually as the UW-Eau Claire women's cross country won the six-team SMU Invite II here today in Arcadia.

The Blugolds won the event with 39 points, followed by UW-Stout with 55. Host St. Mary's finished third with 72 while Winona State, Martin Luther and Crown College rounded out the pack.

Warner took first place in the field of 85 runners with a time of 23:51. The time was 17 seconds better than second place overall and 1:00 better than any other Blugold runner.

Jane Ovanin (Jr.-Amherst) took second on the Eau Claire team and sixth place overall, finishing the course in a time of 24:51. Korah Petrasko (So.-Appleton/East) took third on the team and ninth place individually with a time of 25:01 while Heidi Hancock (Sr.-Greendale) finished 10th overall in 25:17. Amber Hertz (Fr.-Baraboo) finished 13th overall in a time of 25:21.

The Blugolds will resume action this Friday when they host the Pre-National Meet in Colfax. The event is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
