Box Score

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey held a 34-16 shot advantage but could not pull out its season opener, dropping a 3-1 decision to St. Olaf here tonight in Minnesota.

The Blugolds fall to 0-1-0 on the season while the Oles move to 1-0-0 with the victory. Eau Claire still owns a 7-3-1 advantage in the all-time series between the two teams.

St. Olaf scored one goal in each period to take a 3-0 lead before the Blugolds got on the board. Amanda Schultz (Jr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) scored Eau Claire's only goal to finish the scoring at 3-1.

St. Olaf finished the game with 10 penalties while the Blugolds had seven penalties on the evening. Eau Claire was able to do everything except put the puck in the net, tallying 34 shots on the night and finding the back of the net just once.

The two teams will hook up again tomorrow in a rematch. Face-off is set for noon.
