Men's Hockey Wins Fourth Straight

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team won their fourth straight game scoring four unanswered goals in winning 4-1 over Concordia-Moorhead here tonight at Hobbs Ice Center.

The Cobbers got the opening goal with 5:37 remaining in the opening period. The Blugolds answered when Chip Dunleavy (Jr.-Littleton, CO/Columbine) swooped in from the right side and scored his sixth goal of the year to even the score at one.

Eau Claire took advantage of an earlier power play opportunity in the second period when Rob Ouimette (Sr.-Iron Bridge, ONT/Leamington District) scored his team-best seventh goal of the year. The Blugolds increased the lead to 3-1 when Brooks Lockwood (So.-Hudson) scored an unassisted short handed goal.

The Blugolds scored an insurance goal in the third period when Steve Dus (So.-Onalaska) scored off passes from Ouimette and Ted Thompson (Fr.-Listowel, ONT/Peoria Richwoods, IL).

Steffan Braunlich (Jr.-Playa del Rey, CA/Loyola) stopped 30 shots in goal for Eau Claire. The Blugolds committed 14 penalties but held the Cobbers scoreless on ten power plays.

Eau Claire improves to 5-3 on the year with the win. Concordia falls to 0-5-1 on the year.

The Blugolds will be in action next when they face off Finlandia Friday and Saturday in Hancock, Mich. Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m.
