Women's Cross Country Claims Seventh At Regionals

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team scored 234 points in a seventh place finish out of 37 teams here today at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional at Credit Island Park in Iowa.

UW-Stevens Point took first place at the meet with a team score of 76 points, followed by Washington-St. Louis with 93 points. UW-Oshkosh and UW-La Crosse claimed third and fourth places respectively while North Central (IL) took fifth place.

Molly Warner (Fr.-Mosinee) was the top Blugold runner with a time of 22:15.9, good for 25th place overall. The next Eau Claire finisher was Rachel Anderson (Jr.-St. Paul, MN/Harding), who took 28th overall in a time of 22:23.7.

Jane Ovanin (Jr.-Amherst) rounded out a solid season with a 33rd place finish with a time of 22:36.7 while Heather Lipinski (Sr.-Thorp) was the fourth Blugold finisher with a time of 23:20.4, good for 71st place overall.

Kasey Stanek (Jr.-La Crosse/Central) grabbed 77th place at the meet with a time of 23:30.2 while Cassie Haak (So.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) took 81st in a time of 23:37.0.

Liz Woodworth of UW-Oshkosh was the top individual finisher, winning the meet with a time of 20:40.3 while UW-Stevens Point's Megan Craig took second with a time of 21:13.6. Amanda Kuca of Concordia took third place overall.

The Blugolds will host the NCAA Division III Nationals next weekend at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax.
