MEQUON - The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team controlled the game from the start in shutting out the Concordia University of Wisconsin 6-0 here today.

The Falcons of Concordia were no match for Eau Claire as the Blugolds outshot Concordia 22-3 and had five corner kicks to the Falcons zero.

It didn't take long for the Blugolds to get on the board as Marcia Foltz (So.-Madison/Memorial) scored on a header off a Sara Bahlmann (Sr.-Wisconsin Rapids/Lincoln) cross only 1:27 into the game.

Eau Claire would again score on a header at the 16:49 mark when Jill Cope (So.-Golden Valley, MN/Hopkins) scored on a Kris Unterweger (Jr.-Nashotah/Arrowhead) cross. Less than three minutes later Foltz added her second goal of the game off a Cope pass to put the Blugolds up 3-0 at the 19:17 mark.

Maleia Damato (Sr.-Cedarburg) would then run off two goals of her own. Damato's first goal came off a Foltz assist at 30:49 and the second came off a Kacie Fry (Sr.-Depere/Notre Dame Academy) pass at 35:15.

The Blugolds would add their final goal of the game at 69:36 when Kiley Zellner (Jr.-Green Bay/Preble) deflected a shot off a defender into the net to put Eau Claire up 6-0.

Megan Brady (Jr.-Dousman/Waukesha Catholic) stopped all three shots en route to her first shut out of the season.

Eau Claire will be in action next when they travel to St. Paul, Minn. to take on Macalester College. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
