Women's Basketball Third in Division III Attendance
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team had the third highest home attendance average in NCAA Division III during the 2011-12 season, the NCAA recently announced.
The Blugolds averaged 711 spectators per game in 12 contests for a total of 8,529. Hope College (Mich.) led the nation for the fourth straight year with 1,343 per game while George Fox University (Ore.) was second with 938.
Historically, Eau Claire has done very well in the Division III attendance rankings, leading the nation six times between 1995 and 2004. During the 2008-09 season, the Blugolds finished second in the rankings after finishing seventh the year before.
