MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire men's track student-athlete Thurgood Dennis (So.-Allouez, Wis./Green Bay Notre Dame) has been named the Track Performer of the Meet for the WIAC Indoor Championship, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.
Dennis captured the track honor for the second straight year after winning the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash with times of 6.79 and 21.93, respectively. His time in the 60-meter dash established a conference meet record. Dennis was also a member of the 4x200-meter relay team that posted a first-place time of 1:29.31. He is the third individual in league archives to win the award in back-to-back seasons, joining UW-Stout's Terry Anders (1996-97) and UW-Oshkosh's Matt Groose (2002-03).
Dennis holds three individual school records (60-meter dash, 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash) plus he is part of two school record relay teams, the 4x200-meter and 4x400-meter relay teams.
