Blugold Men's Hockey Team Ranked No. 1 in Both National Polls

The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team has reached its highest ranking ever, No. 1, in the final editions of both the D3hockey.com and USCHO.com Top 15 polls. The Blugolds ended the season winning the NCAA Division III national championship, the first NCAA title in school history. The completed the year with a record of 24-5-2.

The UW-Eau Claire men’s hockey team has advanced to the finals of the 2013 NCAA Division III Championship for the first time in history and will compete Friday at 7:30 p.m. (Eastern) against Utica College (N.Y.) at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, N.Y. The championship game is set for 7 p.m. (Eastern) Saturday.

Men's Hockey Head Coach Matt Loen Named National Coach of the Year

Brandon Stephenson Receives NCHA Player of the Week Honor

(Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire men’s hockey goaltender Brandon Stephenson (Sr.-Saline, Mich.) has been named Player of the Week in the NCHA Men’s Conference for the week ending January 27. Stephenson made 61 saves in two wins last weekend that put the Blugolds alone in the first place and solidified home ice for at least the first two rounds of the NCHA playoffs.

The Blugolds are currently 14-3-2 on the season and 9-2-1 in the NCHA, tied for first place with St. Norbert College. The two teams will face each other Friday in Hobbs Ice Center.
