• Hockey program's ninth head coach in history
• Served as interim head coach in 2007-08 before earning permanent position
• Served as asssitant coach for the Blugolds for two seasons (2005-07)
• In 2010-11, guided the Blugolds to 15 wins and fourth place in NCHA, the highest finish and most wins since the 1994-95 season
• In 2008 and 2012, led the Blugolds to NCHA post-season first-round series wins, their only first round wins since joining the NCHA
• Under Loen, a number of Blugolds have earned conference honors

  • Played in over 500 games professionaly
    • Rookie of the Year in the United Hockey League (UHL) for the Madison Monsters
    • Played for Cincinnati Mighty Ducks of the American Hockey League (AHL), the top farm team for the Anaheim Mighty Ducks
    • Played for Milwaukee Admirals of the International Hockey League (IHL), the top team in Nashville Predators' farm system
    • Multiple-time minor league All-Star
• Married to Carla; Has one son (Max) and one daughter (Emma)
